Memorial Day weekend is the perfect time to visit the Fort Lauderdale beaches!
While Memorial Day is also a time of remembrance and reflection, it also happens to fall on what many consider the first weekend of summer. Spending some time at the beach is a great way to relax and have some time to reflect, while also soaking up in the season’s gorgeous rays of sunshine.
In addition to the sand and waves, Fort Lauderdale is also host to many Memorial Day events appreciated by tourists and residents alike. Here is a listing of the many ways, including ceremonies and parades, to observe Memorial Day on May 27, 2019, in the Fort Lauderdale area.
Veterans Park, 3550 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek. Speakers and Coconut Creek Police Department Honor Guard. Ceremony 9 to 10 am.
Veterans Park, 8601 Royal Palm Blvd, Coral Springs. Celebration begins at 9am. 954-345-2200
Orange Drive to Bergeron Rodeo Grounds, 4271 Davie Rd, Davie. Parade at 10 a.m., Ceremony begins at 11 a.m.
Historic Butler House, 380 E Hillsboro Blvd. Free concert follows ceremony. Noon to -2 p.m.
Hollywood Memorial Gardens, 6300 Taft St. Patriotic, traditional remembrance honoring veterans of all wars and veteran’s organizations. Begins at 11 a.m.
North Lauderdale Veterans Memorial, at Kimberly Boulevard and Rock Island Road in North Lauderdale. 10 a.m.
Fletcher Art & Cultural Center/Fletcher Park. Presentation of colors, guest speakers and a wreath placing. 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Plantation Veterans Park, 1776 Lauderdale West Drive. South Florida Jubilee Chorus, Speakers, Plantation High School Junior R.O.T.C. and Plantation Police Honor Guard. 9:30 a.m.
Veterans Memorial Park, 7825 Southgate Blvd., Tamarac. 10:30 a.m. Veterans Affairs Committee and elected officials join to remember our veterans.
