How to Save Money for your Next Vacation

Are you dreaming of sandy beaches? Fantasizing about getting away from the snow and cold weather for a few days and going somewhere to get some sun? If finances are stopping you from taking your next vacation, don’t fret! There are lots of ways you can make that vacation dream a reality!

1. Save from every paycheck

Even if it is just a small amount, put a little money aside from every paycheck into a specific vacation fund. If you take the money out immediately, you probably won’t even miss it!

2. Try to cut your expenses.

Pack lunches from home, instead of heading to lunch every day. You can also make coffee at home and bring it with you in a travel mug, instead of stopping at your local coffee shop each morning. Think about how money you spend in a day, and what you can do to spend a little less.

3. Choose your credit cards wisely.

If you don’t already have one, apply for a credit card that you gives you miles. And shop with that credit card whenever possible. Use that card for gas, groceries, etc. The miles will add up before you know it!

4. Make a little extra money.

Perhaps you have the time for a weekend job at a local clothing store or book store. There are many part-time jobs available on evenings and weekends, such as tutoring, pet sitting, telemarketing and more. Or maybe you current employers will allow you to work some overtime. It doesn’t hurt to ask!

5. Sell things.

The best way to fund your next vacation may be staring you right in the face. Looking around your house. Do you have clothes you no longer wear? Other items you aren’t using anymore. List them online or hold a garage sale.

With a little thought, patience, saving and perseverance, your next vacation may happen sooner than you anticipated!
